The original book in Tamil was written by Dr. V. Raghavan more than 50 years ago. This is an English translation by his daughter Nandini Ramani who is one of the senior disciples of the late Bala. She has added two new chapters titled (1) Dr. V. Raghavan's Contribution to a unique Natya sampradaya and (2) The Bala Legacy.
